The Indonesian Teachers Association/ PGRI, as the only national
teachers organization in Indonesia, claims to have around 1,600,000
members nationwide, even in the most remote areas. PGRI members
are highly educated, have a positive image and are well-respected
community members.
In 1998/1999, PGRI was entrusted by IPEC to adapt the English Version
of the ILO/IPEC "Information Kit for Teachers, Educators and
their Organizations" to Indonesian language and culture. At
the end of the project, PGRI succeeded to accomplish all the outputs
that required which are 100 members of the Indonesian Teachers Association/PGRI
trained as trainers, media campaign highlight launched and 5000
Information Kits (adapted final version) produced and disseminated
throughout Indonesia. They will be an important partner to reach
teachers throughout Indonesia.
